The world market system 1900. Almost the whole world has been covered by the system, after the extreme growth of the 19th century. The core is still London, and Britain is a hegemon in decline, challenged by the US and Germany. The system has gotten strength enough to expand the center to almost all Western Europe and big parts of Northern America. Eastern Europe has advanced to semi-periphery as has Japan and some coastal areas in South America. The rest is periphery.
